Go into any pro audio retail shop.  What has one of the biggest displays?  Cabling, of course!  Which cable to you choose for which type of equipment?  Will I get buzz from this?  How should I size them?  Answer these questions and more with System Hookup.

You will learn:

  • the difference between conductor, wire, and cable
  • how to classify cables and connectors
  • where different types of cables and connectors are used
  • the importance of good shielding and grounding
  • how balanced cables combat noise
  • when to use audio transformers

Learn where instrument, microphone, patch, insert, Ethernet, and speaker cables are utilized in system interconnect.  Use low Z and high Z cabling correctly.  Buck noise from your system using balanced cabling and proper shielding.  Identify and utilize phone, phono, XLR, ethercon, banana, and speakon connectors.  Learn to size your cables according to the equipment you are connecting.  Learn how to handle and care for your cables for long lifespans.
